Karen
Blease Colley COLLEY, Karen Blease — Age 41, of Oakland, Oregon.
Beloved mother, wife, daughter, friend. After battling cancer
for more than two years, our courageous Karen passed from
us on December 8, 2005. Karen lived her life possessed with
an indomitable spirit that was positively infectious to those
around her. This sustained her though the last years. She
was incapable of giving up on anything, including her body.
Even as her cancer came back for the final time she finished
her masters degree and began teaching until physically unable
to continue. In her last weeks, she was planning her family’s
next trip. She was not willing to let a failing body contain
her life. Traveling and her art were Karen’s passions and
she combined them as often as possible. She had visited or
lived in places as varied as Alaska, Central America, Hawaii,
and Tibet. Karen saw the beauty of all places and people and
reflected that in her art, stories, and laugh. Karen is loved
and missed by everyone who knew her. She is survived by her
husband, Scott; children, Desiree and Sterling; her parents,
Tom and Nancy Blease; brothers, Tom; Eric; and Alex; and family
and friends all over the world. There are no words to tell
you how much we love and miss you, Karen. There will be no
services. Cancer can be beaten. Please donate to the American
Cancer Society.
